You Are Not Commanded by God to Blindly Follow Israel as a Christian
🕰️ Written: September 2025
Many believers hear “Israel” in Scripture and automatically apply it to the modern nation-state. But the Bible never commands blind loyalty to a government—especially when its actions contradict the character of Christ.
Biblical Israel vs. Modern Israel
Biblical Israel was a covenant people, chosen to bring forth the Messiah. Their inheritance of the land was always conditioned by obedience (Genesis 15:18–21; Deuteronomy 28).
Modern Israel is a secular nation-state (founded 1948), run by politicians and generals—not priests and prophets. The New Testament re-centers “Israel” around Christ:
- “Not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.” — Romans 9:6
- “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed.” — Galatians 3:29
- “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood.” — 1 Peter 2:9
✝️ The Rejection of the Messiah
The cornerstone was refused by the builders (Psalm 118:22; Matthew 21:42). He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him (John 1:11). Israel’s ruling council plotted His death (Matthew 26:3–4) and cried to Pilate, “We have no king but Caesar.” (John 19:15).
This was not every Jew—the earliest church was Jewish. It was the leaders, the ruling establishment, who silenced Christ and His witnesses. Stephen said, “You always resist the Holy Spirit.” They stoned him for it (Acts 7:51–60).
⚖️ Four Distortions
Covenant → Conquest
A conditional inheritance is twisted into justification for expansion and occupation.
Promise → Politics
Scripture is invoked as cover for a secular state’s power plays.
Chosen → Untouchable
Christians are told that criticizing state policy equals opposing God.
Compassion → Contempt
Hatred of Palestinians is sold as holy. That is not covenant faithfulness—that is Babylon.
The Gaza Test
If your heart cheers when bombs fall on children, is that the Spirit of Christ—or the adversary?
- God judged Egypt for oppressing the weak.
- “Love your enemies.” — Matthew 5:44
- “Blessed are the peacemakers.” — Matthew 5:9
The Machinery Behind It
- U.S. Taxpayer Money: multi-billion “aid” that subsidizes American weapons for Israel.
- Lobbying: political pressure that shapes Congress and silences dissent.
- Intelligence & Tech: surveillance partnerships and platforms aligned with state power.
- Narrative Control: critics rebranded in death as “friends”; speech framed as hate.
This is not holiness—this is Babylon wearing a covenant mask.
Narrative Control: The Charlie Kirk Moment
Before his assassination, Charlie Kirk had begun distancing himself from certain donors. Within hours of his death, prominent voices were on TV calling him a “great friend.” If he was pulling away, those statements weren’t about honoring him—they were about securing the story.
Freedom of Speech Under Siege
Laws and policies increasingly blur the line between antisemitism and legitimate criticism of a state. Universities and platforms punish dissent. Public figures are canceled for breaking the narrative line.
The Biblical Warning
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you.” — Matthew 23:37
“They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.” — Luke 19:44
“Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins.” — Revelation 18:4
The Call to Christians
Christian, you are not commanded to blindly follow Israel. You are commanded to follow Christ.
- Christ does not bless bombs.
- Christ does not delight in suffering.
- Christ does not excuse cruelty.
